Family Beyond the Binary:
Non-binary people’s expectations and experiences of family life in the UK
Our Aim
This 3-year, multi method research project aims to explore the expectations and experiences of family amongst non-binary individuals in the UK. The study will focus on different kinds of families (including biological, legal and chosen families), and addresses a gap in the literature. Overall, the project aims to contribute to reducing stigma and improving well-being in non-binary communities.
‘Family Beyond the Binary’ will be designed and conducted in collaboration with Gendered Intelligence, the UK’s leading gender diversity charity.
